The Gilded Peach in Key West

Gilded Peach in the news...again!

I just love the Key West Citizen- I can't say enough about how helpful they have been to me.  In this week's Paradise entertainment guide, the lovely ladies over at 1100 Sodu were kind enough to feature me in the article about next week's Full Moon HOWL, South Duval's monthly shop crawl. I hope all this exposure doesn't start going to my head! (its on page 8).

     In other news, its still pretty dead here, but looking to pick up a little next week with the arrival of Goombay Festival, which signifies the beginning of Fantasy Fest.

Also, I know many of you have been hounding me to get the online store replenished again- have no fear! I have been photographing and editing like crazy- it shouldn't be too much longer. 

And, in personal news, I found my own place to live! I am very excited- its an adorable little cottage right around the corner from my store. So it's nice to know that soon Zibens and I will have out own place to be, even though I cannot thank all the people who let me inhabit thier beautiful key west homes enough.

Finally!

So tomorrow is the big day! The Gilded Peach is finally opening! I have to tell you, I wasn't always sure I was going to make it. This has been an enormous challenge. And I am a little sad to be opening by myself, but I am getting pretty used to doing things by myself at this point. I posted some pics of the (almost) finished store here.

Almost There!

I think I am actually going to make it. A few moments over the past few days, it looked dubious from where I was sitting, but I think it is really is going to happen. And I am going to live to tell about it.
     After the only (former) friend I had down here with a large vehicle stood me up on Friday, I trudged over to the nice folks at Tropical Rental, down the street, and rented me up a lovely Ford Taurus station wagon, which I then used to haul all of my boxes to my storage unit, which was three full loads. Then I headed over to the Ace hardware, where I was so out of it all I did was wander the aisles aimlessly, walking out without the one thing I actually needed, which was a lock. I went over to the Home Depot and did the same thing for a bit, finally pulling it together enough to buy a few fasteners and chains and shelves, and walked out just in time for those tropical heavens to open up in a torrential downpour. I won't pretend I couldn't help but shed a few tears at this point. What the hell am I even doing here? What was I thinking? Okay, moment over.
    It was about three days of this. Yesterday, things finally started to come together. I felt like, for the first time, this is really going to happen by Sunday, which is my projected opening. And I cannot thank the fabulous Melissa from Wishbliss, her gracious husband Thomas, and the best helper around, Juliet, for everything they have done for me this past week. With their aid and cheering on, The Gilded Peach in Key West is going to be gorgeous. I am posting some pics of the progress in another album, which should have a link on the side bar.
     On another bright note, I got my first delivery of gemstones at the new store yesterday! That was fun. And they even includeda hadwritten note of congrats on the new store, and a store-warming gift of a beautiful strand of citrine. It warmed my heart.
    Things are getting better.
